Main purpose of our trip was the visit of Neuschwanstein castle, but we saw the nice blue lake under the castle from the hillside view, so we have decided to go there. We loved it there, so we have decided to rent a pedalboat and go across the lake and take some pictures of both castles. It was very nice!

The same thing happened during our trip! Neuschwanstein was the main reason we were there as well, but saw the lake as we were going up the hill! How we wish you could comment photos here. Would love to see your photo of the two castles from the middle of the lake.

This is probably the clearest lake I have ever seen. It is truly breathtaking. There is a family of swans that lives here. Vry nice photo! Cheers!

Saw those swans, too, and yes, the water was amazing! We would have swam with the kids (in the photo) if we had swimwear with us.

Fantastic clear lake with stunning reflections of the castle well worth a 2hr walk around the perimeter. A must see while in Fussen ! Nice to see this here ! Great one

Agree with you! I liked the Alpsee much more than I did the castles, though. The water had that calming effect, I guess.

We had a peaceful walk along the Alpsee on a sunny afternoon. The scenic beauty is enchanting and you get a beautiful view of the Alps!! Hope you enjoyed your walk too!!

Yup, we totally did! We didn’t get the chance to try the hiking trails or the Fürstenstrasse, though. I heard the trails allow for better appreciation of the Alps. Would love to try those the next time we visit!

Honestly I ended up walking around the Alpsee by accident after taking a wrong turn, but I am so happy I did. It it absolutely stunning from start to finish, ethereally silent, breathtakingly beautiful, and with refreshing streams you can drink from on the way. Beautiful photo by the way!

Which trail were you on? That’s what I love about Bayern and Tyrol – unadulterated nature, unmatched scenic views, and the feeling that the world is embracing you with all that beauty. We’re glad you like the photo. Thanks for tuning in, Doug!

The kids had to go in for a dip it is SO CLEAR. It is difficulty to put into words it’s crisp beautiful calm and simply stunning. Run off glacier waters with views of historic castles like out of a dairy tale. I can’t express the beauty. Hope u had a wonderful time in Alpsee!

We had a lovely time here, imagining princes and princesses wandering about! Totally agree with your description. Do you and your kids like the other towns along the Romantische Straße, as well?

I have one word for this place : Underrated!
Maybe, it’s better left like that! Thanks for dropping by, Andre!

Beautiful lake between Neushweinstein castle and Linderhof castle in Germany. There are a lot of places to stop a car and do a beautiful photos, especially in the morning when fog is over the lake!
From a captivated fan from Ukraine!

Agree with how photogenic Füssen and Allgäu are! I think you meant Hohenschwangau 😉 Thanks so much for tuning in, Andriy!
