When we are in an unfamiliar territory, it is ironic, howevermuch expected, how we seem to look for places with a certain sense of home. We may start our journeys all wide-eyed and open-minded, but a time comes, when we somehow get tired of the foreign, and seek comfort in the familiar. When you find yourself at a loss at moments like this, and you just so happen to be in Luang Prabang, a night or two at The Belle Rive is in order.
The Belle Rive offers fuss-free rooms and ultimate convenience. Providing five-star amenities may not be the priority, but needs are anticipated and taken care of. As they say, luxury is just all about the perks and the little extras.
Here, time is always your own, and no one else’s. You do not need to adhere to strict schedules. What check-in, what check out time? Check-in or check out at your own leisure! On top of that, sleeping in after a busy night would not keep you from enjoying a good breakfast. Here, you can have your breakfast the way you like it, whatever the time may be, wherever you want it served – be that in the ever-lovely The Belle Rive Terrace by the Mekong River or in the comfort of your room. You can even enjoy a piece or two of the town’s best croissant (which is usually sold out come noon) without the hassle of waking up too early. But, nothing beats that complimentary river cruise with complimentary beer or wine. No need to stress over looking for and negotiating with a reputable riverboat company just to enjoy one of the world’s most serene sunsets.
All in all, staying at The Belle Rive seems like staying at your childhood best friend’s pad or, perhaps, your ancestral home. The place sure is cozy, and everything feels familiar. Your stay is extremely relaxing. After, you leave for another destination refreshed, with a renewed perspective.
The Belle Rive does boutique so well, as far as service is concerned, although management still has to improve on other aspects. But, right now, a lot of hotels identifying themselves as boutique in Luang Prabang might already want to take a cue – or two!
