In the book Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll, when Alice fell into the rabbit hole and opened the door to a beautiful world where imagination becomes a reality - she was dazed and confused - wondering how she ended up in a place where her wildest dreams exist; but at the same time, bewildered and excited with what’s coming her way. It might not be the same as Alice, but we felt the same jolt of excitement when we arrived at Wynn Palace, Wynn’s newest property in Macau’s Cotai district.

From the outside-looking-in, Wynn Palace’s otherworldly opulence might seem too much to process

Launched Mid-2016, Wynn Palace is Wynn Resorts’ second property in the former Portuguese colony, following the success of Wynn Macau at the city center. Surprisingly, just a few years after its launch, the Wynn Palace complex is already stepping out of the shadows of its older sister; hosting some of the city’s biggest events, and welcoming thousands of guests in its 1,706-room hotel.

It’s difficult not to notice the factors that lead to this early success, though. For stepping inside the main arrival hall is like falling into a rabbit hole to Wonderland. The arrival lobby’s cathedral-like ceilings display a beautiful array of colors when the sun hits the stained-glass windows, vibrant flower-themed mosaics adorn the floors like loose gems glinting in the summer sun, while the Preston Bailey-designed centerpiece features a thousand-flower arrangement that interestingly looks like hot air balloons floating in the dome-like plaza.

Once we got used to its peculiar splendor, we slowly felt like Alice - our minds got filled with wonder and imagination

From the outside-looking-in, though, Wynn Palace’s otherworldly opulence might seem too much to process - in our case it took a few minutes to take it all in - but once we got used to its peculiar splendor, we slowly felt like Alice - our minds got filled with wonder and imagination. With every detail, every twist and turn, and every artwork at the property reminding us of the Castle of Hearts.

That night, as we slowly fell into a deep slumber in the fluffy, cloud-like bed of Wynn Palace’s Executive Suite, we began to wonder, will we wake up the next day asking ourselves if everything we saw was just a dream, like Alice? In our case, though, I believe that our very own piece of Wonderland, Wynn Palace, is here to stay.
