Over the course of a few years, we have developed different systems of how, what and when we should pack, eventually distilling what goes into our packing list into the essential kits. Don’t worry. We’ll let you in on our little secret.
The Carry On
This kit includes your passport(s), a pen, noise-cancelling headphones, a pack of wipes, a tablet, a dependable camera, and a lip balm. For times when you are extra-sensitive to the chill, a silk-and-wool scarf would not consume much space, and will surely be a welcome addition. Add in a good book or an interesting magazine (or both), and you’ll be all set for the long-haul.
The Scout’s Kit
This includes about everything you need but, would most likely, forget: chargers, adaptors, cables, hard drives, Swiss knife and medicine. Make sure you throw this into your check-in luggage, though. You wouldn’t want to deal with grumpy airport security personnel.
Always go with flexible and high-quality basics, that would be easy to mix, match, and layer when the need arises. Our formula: pack three tops for one bottom. It wouldn’t be such a bad idea to stick to the color palette that suits you best, either. Traveling light doesn’t have to mean you’ll have to look drab on those photos, though: let those statement accessories speak for themselves.
